Why family lifestyle photography?

Family lifestyle photography is like a documentary of your family life. It captures the beauties of your day to day family life at that moment. It brings out the connections and emotions in such a special, real and natural way that cannot be easily conveyed by more posed photos.

Are you the one who is behind the camera all the time? You need to be on the other side of the camera! One day, your kids can look back and remember how fun you were and how much love you had for them! You will look back and remember how small they once were, and how sweet those day to day moments were.

What will my session be like?

Your session would typically take 60 minutes (may be more). I would first have a little chat with you and your family, including your little ones, so we get to know each other a little bit, and everyone will feel a bit more relaxed. In between our chats, I will be running after your little ones and following your family around while you are doing some of your favourite family activities. I will capture lots of real and natural moments of your family through your normal activities. There may be laughters or tears in your session, all the moments and connections are all part of the documentary of your family.

Where should I have my photos taken?

Your photos can be taken at home or at any locations that represent your family. Whether you are baking a cake in your kitchen, swimming in your backyard pool, reading a book in bed or playing a board game on the floor, together as a family. I will be there to document your family

memories. Whether you are playing at the park, frolicking at the beach, jumping in rainy puddles or throwing leaves in the air. I will be there to document your family memories. The photos will reflect the beauties of your family life in the most natural way possible.

Where are you and do you travel?

I am based in Sydney’s Lower North Shore, and most of my sessions take place in Sydney metropolitan area. However, I am happy to work with you to find a location that best suits your family.

What should we wear?

Generally, white, neutral or earthy tones work the best. It is best not to wear anything that have busy print or large logo. But most importantly, it is important to wear things that you feel comfortable with.

Do you take newborn photos?

Yes, I sure do. I even do newborn photos as soon as your baby is delivered either at home or at the hospital. Or I can come over to your home whenever you are ready. It is such a critical milestone of your family that definitely needs to be documented. No props will be used for your newborn session. The natural beauty and family connections will be captured as they are.

When is the best time to have a newborn session?

Two to three weeks old as newborn is more sleepy and less unsettled.

How should I prepare my house for an in-home photography session?

I would suggest picking two to three rooms that your family likes to hang out in and have the best light. A bit of general tidy up of those rooms, and remove objects that don’t add much value to your photos. Some neutral coloured linens and some flowers would make a difference also.

What if it rains or we are sick on the day?

Overcast days would produce beautiful images. However, if the weather is very bad, your outdoor sessions will be rescheduled free of charge. I would also recommend a reschedule of your in-home session if your home gets very dark on a rainy day. If you, your family or I get sick, your session will be rescheduled free of charge also.

What should we bring to an outdoor session?

Some food and drinks for yourself and your little ones, something fun to play with your little ones, a nice blanket and some favourite books.

What if my kids won’t cooperate?

Relax and let’s just go with the flow. Don’t feel stressed about it. The key is to have some fun with them, and do something they like doing, so they would join in and everyone gets to enjoy some family time together. The photos will reflect your family connection naturally.

What is the best time?

In-home sessions are recommended between 10am and 3pm. For outdoor sessions, I highly recommend sunrise or sunset because of the magical lighting.

How long does it take before I see my edited photos?

You will receive a link within 1-2 weeks post your photo session to view the slightly edited images. You can choose your favourites from your personalised gallery. The fully edited digital files will be available to you within 2-3 weeks once your favourites are confirmed.

Can I upgrade my package after the photo session?

Definitely!  You can upgrade your package even after our photo session.
